What is AeroCalc Pro?
AeroCalc Pro is a heat loss and cooling load calculator for heating and air-conditioning installers. It works out room-by-room heat loss to BS EN 12831-1:2017, sizes radiators for any flow temperature, and calculates cooling loads to CIBSE Guide A. It runs in a web browser, with an iPhone app (with LiDAR room scanning) coming to the App Store.
Which standard does the heat loss calculator use?
BS EN 12831-1:2017, the simplified room method that the CIBSE Domestic Heating Design Guide and the MCS heat loss calculation are based on: fabric loss through walls, windows, roof and floor from their U-values, plus ventilation loss from air changes per hour, at the room temperature and the external design temperature.
Does it size radiators for heat pumps?
Yes. The room heat loss stays the same; AeroCalc works out the radiator output you need at the ΔT50 catalogue rating for the flow and return temperatures you choose (for example 45/40°C for a heat pump), using the standard radiator exponent of 1.3.
How does the LiDAR room scan work?
On an iPhone Pro with LiDAR, the AeroCalc iPhone app uses Apple RoomPlan. You walk slowly round the room; the app traces the walls, windows and doors and fills in the length, width, ceiling height and window area for you. The iPhone app is coming soon to the App Store.
Is AeroCalc Pro free?
Yes, the Free plan includes up to 5 rooms and shows adverts. Pro is £12.99 a month for 365 locations with up to 15 rooms each, and Business is £29.99 a month for unlimited locations and rooms. Paid plans cover your whole team and have no adverts. Prices include VAT; yearly plans get two months free.
Can my team share calculations?
Yes. On Pro and Business you invite engineers and admins to your team and everyone works from the same locations and rooms, on the web and on the iPhone.
Does AeroCalc work with LilaCRM?
Yes. Connect your LilaCRM book once, link a location to a LilaCRM job or customer, and AeroCalc files the rooms — with their heat loss and cooling loads — on the job as a survey, ready to price a quote from.
Does it calculate cooling loads for air conditioning?
Yes. The cooling calculator adds up fabric, solar gain through glazing, people, lighting, equipment and fresh-air loads (sensible and latent) using CIBSE Guide A data and Approved Document F ventilation rates, then recommends a split, cassette, VRF or portable unit size.
